Guru Shlokam:
Gurur brahma gurur vishnu
gurur devo maheshwarah
guruh sakshat parabrahma
tasmai sri gurave namah
Guru is Brahma (Lord of Creation), Guru is Vishnu (the Organizer),
and Guru is Maheshwara (Shiva or the destroyer).
Guru Sakshat Parabrahma means Guru is Parbrahma, the Supreme God.
Since Guru leads us to a path of light, the Guru is Parabrahma.
Tasmai Shree Guruve Namah means ‘we bow to that Guru’.
Hence, being a realized soul, Guru embodies Parabrahma or the ultimate Godhead.

I bow down with folded hands in reverence of Lord Patanjali.

Pranamami Patanjalim
From the hand up to the head he has the shape (karam) of a human (purusa)
In his hand he is holding the conch (shanka) and disc (chakra)
On the top of his head (sirsam) he has got a thousand (sahasra) hoods of the cobra,
because he is the incarnation of Adishesha, the greatest cobra. Svetam means white.
I bow down to Patanjali.
